One of These You Can Buy. The Other You Can Only Rent.

iCabbi is a serious dispatch platform: live in 14 countries, apps that carry your brand rather than theirs, and no share taken from any fare. It is also cloud-only, sold per active driver, and priced on a call — 75% of it has belonged to Renault Group since 2018. BetterTaxi publishes what it charges, and will sell you the source code to run yourself.

Quick Verdict

It Comes Down to What You Own at the End.

Both platforms put your brand on native apps and give your dispatchers a desk to work from. One of them can become yours outright, and that is the decision.

BetterTaxi

A white-label ride-hailing platform sold three ways: a flat monthly subscription, a licence you host yourself, or the full source code. The price is on the pricing page.

  • Best for: knowing the price before you speak to anyone
  • Best for: operators who want the option to host it or own the code
  • Best for: adding delivery, parking or bookings without a second vendor

Consider: the hosted plan takes 1.9% of each completed fare on top of its monthly fee, where iCabbi takes nothing from a fare at all. On a high-value fleet that difference runs our way only once you price the per-driver licences against it. Our hosted plan also includes one business type; a second is priced separately.

iCabbi

iCabbi

A Dublin-founded dispatch platform, majority-owned by Renault Group, running taxi and private-hire fleets across 14 countries. Cloud-hosted, billed per active driver.

  • Best for: fleets that would rather never share a percentage of a fare
  • Best for: operators who want a carmaker's balance sheet behind the vendor
  • Best for: paying only for the drivers who actually worked this month

Consider: there is no published price to compare, on any tier. Their pricing page names the model and asks you to book a call, so the figure you are quoted is the figure you negotiated — and it is cloud-only, so there is no version of it you can take with you.

Deep Dive

Four Differences Worth the Detail.

The Price Is a Phone Call

iCabbi publishes a page called "Pay as you grow pricing". It contains no price. The one pricing sentence on it is that you pay for the active drivers you had that month, and the FAQ adds that the rate is tailored to your fleet size, markets and products — which is a description of a negotiation, not a price. Nothing about that is unusual for enterprise software, but it does mean two operators on the same platform can be paying different money for the same thing, and neither can check.

BetterTaxi

Every tier is on the pricing page, in your currency, with the limits printed next to it. The figure you read is the figure you pay.

iCabbi

A pricing page with a model on it and no number. What you pay depends on the fleet you bring and the call you have.

Cloud Only Means Renewal Forever

iCabbi runs in iCabbi's cloud. There is no self-hosted build and no source licence, so every year is a renewal year and the software stops being yours to use the month you stop paying for it. BetterTaxi sells the same platform three ways — hosted from $49 a month, a licence you run on your own servers from $4,999 once, or the full source from $49,999 once. Buy the licence and the platform keeps running whatever we do next.

BetterTaxi

Hosted, self-hosted or source. The exit is priced and published before you ever need it.

iCabbi

Hosted only, on every plan. Leaving means moving fleet, drivers and history onto something else.

Per Driver Grows With the Fleet

Per-driver billing is genuinely kind to a small or seasonal fleet — you pay for the drivers who worked and nothing for the ones who did not, and iCabbi takes no cut of any fare. It is also the line on your P&L that grows every time you sign someone. A flat subscription does the opposite: it is the worse deal at five drivers and the better one at five hundred, because the fee stops moving while the fleet does not.

BetterTaxi

One monthly fee that does not move when you hire, plus 1.9% of completed fares.

iCabbi

Nothing taken from a fare, and a licence fee for every driver who works that month.

The Same Driver Can Carry a Parcel

iCabbi fleets can take delivery work, and the route there is a partner product that integrates with their dispatch. It works — it is also a second vendor, a second contract and a second system to reconcile at the end of the month. On BetterSuite a shop order marked for express delivery is priced by a live taxi quote and dispatched to the same drivers who take fares, arriving in the driver app as one more job with a pickup and a drop-off.

BetterTaxi

One driver pool, one dispatch, one bill. A ride and a parcel are the same job with different cargo.

iCabbi

Delivery arrives through a partner platform, wired into their dispatch rather than built into it.

  • Rolling monthly, with no fare volume to outgrow
  • A rival vendor's 2026 review estimates £15–£25 per vehicle and £1,000–£3,000 to set up — not iCabbi's own figure
  • Taxi and private hire only; delivery via a partner

iCabbi publishes no price. Their pricing page states only that you pay for the active drivers you had that month, and their FAQ describes a per-driver model quoted against your fleet size, markets and products — so this page quotes no figure for them. The £15–£25 per vehicle and £1,000–£3,000 setup range are NOT iCabbi's: they come from taxi-webdesign.com, a competing dispatch vendor that ranks itself first in the same comparison and labels its own competitor figures as indicative ranges to be confirmed with each vendor.
